Restaurant Rumors: Deli to open in Georgetown

A special thanks to a good friend for supplying this information, but it seems like Georgetown will be getting a new deli from some former Galileo folks.

The deli will open in about two weeks, will be producing lunches to go, and is located at the corner of 28th and P St. NW.

Does anyone else have any information on this? Do you think a deli in the Georgetown area will do a good business?

Especially after the departure of Georgetown Bagelry, I think it'll do a bang-up job feeding the masses. Its only real big-name competition will be Booeymonger, which is way the heck up the hill someplace.

I just visited today. Bought pasta sauce, terrific tuna in olive oil that sells for twice as much down at Dean & Deluca, and a yummy panino. Plus Laura's husband (I forget his name) was patient with my broken Italian as I tried practicing with him. Such a friendly place. Georgetown has been DESPERATE for more real corner markets. We have Safeway on the friendly-but-lowbrow side and Dean & Deluca (where the service isn't just chilly, it is actually unkind), but what's in the middle for a hungry Georgetowner who loves Europe? This corner market is just the thing.
