My snobbery takes another hit
At one point (two weeks ago), I would have completely sworn off The Melting Pot as a huge chain restaurant that's grossly overpriced.
Well yes, it's a huge chain restaurant, and it's over priced. But the food there is pretty decent, plus, it's a great place to get a large group together.
Your thoughts? Have you been to The Melting Pot?

I think the food looked and smelled great and was a lot of fun. I mean, clearly, the quality of the company helped, but still. Its a great special occassion place, and I think you should probably take me sometime. So there.
I've been! I really liked it. What's to be snobby about? It's fun!
I've never been as I live on the other side of the world, but I'm loving that photo so much, it's wrong.
I've been to the Melting Pot many times, and I find it to be a lot of fun. Is it haute cuisine? Nope. But it's a great interactive alternative to "the norm," and, compared to a lot of DC restaurants, it's actually fairly affordable. It's also a great place to take a pickier eater, as you control nearly all aspects of the meal.
I only went once, and wasn't too big on it.
Frankly, while I'd rather go to non-chain restaurants, all I really care about in a group dining experience is the company.
When you're in an area like the one I'm in, you can't avoid the Applebees of the world all the time.
And I love the Olive Garden.
There, I said it.
:)
marc, i do too. sometimes you just want cheesy pasta goodness and freshly-thawed bread sticks!
mmm...breadsticks...
See, now I was all ready to turn my nose up too, but now that you've deigned to indulge, maybe I'll stumble in there. What could go wrong with cheese and chocolate?
